Press release No. 054 of 15 February 2017
WIESBADEN – For more than one in three children (35.7%) born in Germany in the second quarter of 2015, fathers received parental allowance. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the participation rate of fathers, as it is called, increased by 1.3 percentage points compared with the same quarter a year earlier. This is shown by current calculations in the context of official statistics of parental allowance concerning completed periods of receipt for children born in the second quarter of 2015.
Sachsen ranked first again in the second quarter of 2015 regarding the participation rate of fathers, now reaching 46.7%, followed by Bayern (43.4%) and Thüringen (42.7%).
