WIESBADEN – In January 2017, 234 people died on German roads; this was a decrease of 5 traffic accident fatalities, or 2.1%, on January 2016. Based on provisional figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that roughly 25,100 people were injured in road traffic. This was a decrease of 3.3%.
On the whole, the police recorded roughly 211,500 road traffic accidents in January 2017, 6.9% more than in the same month of the previous year.
