WIESBADEN – In Germany, 53% of the population aged between 16 and 74 years did online banking in 2016. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), this was an increase of ten percentage points compared with 2010 (43%). Across the countries of the European Union (EU), the average proportion of users rose from 36% to 49% in that period.
From an EU-wide perspective, online banking was used most frequently in northern Europe in 2016, according to Eurostat, the European statistical agency.
