Press 2% of German exports went to Africa in 2016

WIESBADEN – In 2016, Germany exported goods to the value of 24.5 billion euros to Africa. According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), these were 2.0% of the total German exports. The value of imports of African goods to Germany was 16.6 billion euros. Africa accounted for 1.7% of the country's total imports. Compared with the 1990s, Africa's importance for the German foreign trade continued to decline. In 1990, 2.4% of the German exports went to Africa, while 2.9% of the German imports came from there.
