Press Turnover in the service sector up 5.9% in 1st quarter of 2017 on a year earlier

WIESBADEN – The turnover in selected service branches in the first quarter of 2017 was a calendar and seasonally adjusted 5.9% higher than in the first quarter of 2016. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that, according to first calculations of short-term statistics, the adjusted turnover index rose 1.8% on the fourth quarter of 2016.

One in five persons employed in Germany works in the selected service branches of short-term statistics. The total of the branches belonging to this sector generate roughly 35% of the gross value added in the private, that is non-government, service sector in Germany.
