WIESBADEN – More personnel in the social sector, at institutions of higher education and in the area of public safety and order led to an increase in the overall number of public service personnel until the middle of 2016. On the occasion of the United Nations Public Service Day, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that roughly 4.69 million people were employed in the public service on 30 June 2016. That was an increase of 43,600 or 0.9% on a year earlier.
