WIESBADEN – The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that, in the whole of Germany, 19,179 professional qualifications acquired in a foreign country were recognised in 2016 as fully or partially equivalent to the relevant qualifications obtained in Germany. Compared with the previous year, when 16,662 foreign professional qualifications were recognised, this was 15.1% increase. In 2016, a notification of full equivalence was issued for 13,164 applications, a notification of partial equivalence for 6,015 applications. This includes especially notifications involving the obligation to take a compensatory measure and notifications of partial equivalence. A negative notification was issued for 669 applications.
