Press HIV disease caused costs of 278 million euros in 2015

WIESBADEN – In 2015, the cost of illness caused by HIV disease amounted to 278 million euros in Germany. To coincide with the World Aids Day on 1 December, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that men accounted for roughly three quarters of the costs (78%), or 216 million euros. A comparison by age group shows that the highest costs (159 million euros) were recorded for men and women aged 45 to 64 years.
