WIESBADEN – At the end of January 2018, 5.5 million people worked in local units of manufacturing with 50 or more persons employed in Germany. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of provisional results, that was a rise by about 146,000 persons or 2.7% against January 2017.
The number of hours worked in January 2018 increased 4.1% from a year earlier, reaching 736 million – here it has to be considered that the month of January 2018 had one working day more in some Länder.
The earnings amounted to 23.0 billion euros; that was 5.2% more than in January 2017.
