Press release No. 165 of 11 May 2018
WIESBADEN – In 2016, roughly 2.4% of the first-born children in Germany were born to mothers aged 40 or over. To coincide with Mother's Day, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the proportion has been rather stable since 2010 (2.5%). The number of first-born children whose mother was 40 years or older increased from roughly 8,500 in 2010 to roughly 9,200 in 2016.
