WIESBADEN – At the end of March 2018, 5.6 million people worked in local units of manufacturing with 50 or more persons employed in Germany. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of provisional results, that was a rise by about 146,000 persons or 2.7% against March 2017.
The number of hours worked in March 2018 decreased 5.8% from a year earlier, reaching 735 million – here it has to be considered that there were two working days less than in March 2017.
The earnings amounted to 23.6 billion euros; that was 4.8% more than in March 2017.
