WIESBADEN – Environmental protection measures are a major economic factor. To mark the Global Wind Day on 15 June, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that measures to use wind power in Germany are the most important economic pillar of the environmental industry. In 2016, the establishments of the industry and service sectors in Germany generated turnover of 17.7 billion euros from the manufacture, installation and maintenance of wind power stations. This accounted for 25.2% of the total turnover of environmental products.
