WIESBADEN – The establishments of the industry and service sectors in Germany generated a turnover of 70.0 billion euros from goods, services and construction operations for environmental protection in 2016. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the highest turnover of 46.2 billion euros was achieved in the field of climate protection. Most important for the economy were measures to use renewable energy sources (23.2 billion euros) as well as measures to improve energy efficiency and save energy (21.9 billion euros).
