Press Very high cherry yield expected for 2018

Press release No. 235 of 28 June 2018

WIESBADEN – Due to the warm and dry spring, German farmers producing fruit for the market expect a very high cherry yield in 2018, that is, 61,100 tonnes. Based on a first estimate of 10 June 2018, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that both the yield of sweet cherries (roughly 44,300 tonnes) and the yield of sour cherries (just under 16,800 tonnes) will be more than twice that of 2017, which produced a very low yield due to the weather conditions.
