WIESBADEN – The amount of water consumed by agricultural holdings and establishments in mining, manufacturing, energy supply and other service branches has continuously declined. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the overall quantity used by establishments in 2016 amounted to 18.7 billion cubic metres, which was nearly one billion cubic metres less than three years earlier (–4.7% or –927 million cubic metres).
