WIESBADEN – Approximately 393,400 people were employed as academic or artistic staff at German institutions of higher education or university clinics at the end of 2017. Based on provisional figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of 1.7% from 2016. The number of women among the academic or artistic staff rose by 2.5% to 153,000 year on year. As in 2016, the percentage of women was 39% at the end of 2017.
