WIESBADEN – In 2017, employment was the main source of livelihood for seven in ten adults (72%) aged between 18 and 64 and living in Germany. Based on results of the microcensus, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that these were 37.0 million people. The proportions differed between men and women: 78% of men and 66% of women aged between 18 and 64 lived mainly on income from employment.
