WIESBADEN – At the end of 2017, the number of dwellings in residential and non-residential buildings amounted to roughly 42.0 million in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the stock of dwellings compared with the year 2010 increased by 1.5 million or 3.7%. There were 507 dwellings per 1,000 inhabitants at the end of 2017, which was an increase of 12 dwellings per 1,000 inhabitants compared with 7 years earlier (2010: 495 dwellings).
