Press release No. 292 of 8 August 2018
WIESBADEN – In 2017, 328,500 full-time equivalent nurses took care of just under 19.5 million cases receiving in-patient treatment in hospital. Based on provisional figures, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of full-time equivalent nursing staff increased by 3,400, or 1.0%, from a year earlier. This number includes all people working in nursing care converted into full-time equivalents on the basis of the collectively agreed working hours. The number of treatment cases, however, dropped by 77,500 or 0.4%. Multiple counts are possible as patients are counted for each time they received treatment in a year.
