Press release No. 297 of 10 August 2018
WIESBADEN – In 2016, a total 1.337 patients were treated in hospital on a full in-patient basis because of health problems due to heat and light, especially heat stroke or sun stroke. Multiple counts may occur for patients who are treated more than once in the same year. In the "summer of the century" of 2003, there had been just under twice as many cases of treatment (2,600). In 2015 (2,322 patients) and 2006 (2,196 patients), too, more people than in the other years since 2000 had received full in-patient hospital treatment due to an unusually hot summer.
