WIESBADEN – A total of 515,700 young people concluded new apprenticeship contracts in 2017. This was a rise of 5,700, or 1.1%, compared with a year earlier. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this rise was due to an increase in the number of new apprenticeship contracts concluded with men (+3.7%), while there was a decrease in new apprenticeship contracts with women (–2.9%).
