WIESBADEN - In the examination year 2017 (winter semester 2016/2017 and summer semester 2017), roughly 502,000 graduates obtained a higher education degree at German institutions of higher education. Their number has continually increased since 2001, and it grew by 2% compared with 2016. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that 40% of the examinations were passed in the subject group of law, economics and social sciences. Engineering accounted for just over one in four degrees (26%).
