WIESBADEN – In August 2018, the construction price index for conventionally constructed new residential buildings (construction work performed at the building; including turnover tax), which for the first time was calculated with the new base year 2015 = 100, in Germany was up 4.6% compared with August 2017. In May 2018, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the price index increased 4.1% on a year earlier. Compared with May 2018, the price index for residential buildings rose up 1.3% in August 2018.
Concerning non-residential buildings, in August 2018, the price index was up 4.7% for office buildings compared with August 2017. For industrial buildings the index rose up 4.8%. For road construction the price index rose 6.7% compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year.
