WIESBADEN – In 2017, 62% of the adult men in Germany were overweight. The percentage remained unchanged compared with the previous survey taken in 2013. This is reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) to mark Men's World Day on 3 November, an international day of action focusing on men's health. The proportion of overweight women was significantly lower in both 2017 (43%) and 2013 (44%).
A positive trend was observed for smoking habits: in 2017, the percentage of adult men smoking regularly or occasionally was down to 27%.
