WIESBADEN – In 2017, there were 1,973 accidents in rail, road, water and air transport in which water-hazardous substances such as mineral oil products were released. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of accidents was roughly 6% higher than in 2016. However, the volume of the substances released totalled approximately 558 cubic metres (m3), which was a decrease of roughly 23% on the previous year.
