WIESBADEN – In 2018, almost one in six enterprises (16%) with 10 or more persons employed in the manufacturing sector in Germany uses industrial or service robots. To coincide with the Digital Summit to take place in Nuremberg on 3 and 4 December, the Federal Statistical Office also reports that large industrial enterprises use robots more often than smaller enterprises. In large enterprises with 250 or more persons employed, the proportion is 53%. In medium-sized enterprises with 50 to 249 persons employed, it is 24%. Small enterprises with 10 to 49 persons employed use robot technology much less frequently (10%). Industrial robots are used, for example, for welding, laser cutting and special paintwork. Service robots are used for controlling, transport or cleaning.
