WIESBADEN – On reference date 3 November 2018, roughly 26.4 million pigs were kept in Germany. Based on provisional results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of pigs was down by roughly 457,000, or 1.7%, on May 2018. In November 2017, the number of pigs had been higher by roughly 1.1 million, or 4.1%.
