WIESBADEN – Nearly half (51%) of all German enterprises with internet access and a minimum of 10 persons employed had fast internet access in 2018. This refers to fixed broadband connections with a contractually agreed data transfer speed of at least 30 megabits per second (Mbps). The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that, as in the previous years, Germany retained its mid-table position in Europe. The average proportion of enterprises with fast internet access in the EU Member States was slightly lower (48%).
