WIESBADEN – According to estimates of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), approximately 83.0 million people were living in Germany at the end of 2018. At the end of 2017, the figure was 82.8 million. Despite the birth deficit, the number of inhabitants in Germany is estimated to have increased again due to the migration surplus and, at the end of 2018, to have reached a new record high since German reunification.
