Fathers also work full-time more frequently than men without children

WIESBADEN – In 2017, 91% of the fathers aged between 18 and 64 years were in employment. Based on results of the microcensus, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the proportion of childless men in that age group who were in employment was lower (77%). In all age groups between 18 and 64 years, fathers were more likely to be in work than men without children. The proportion of mothers between 18 and 64 years who were in employment amounted to 71% and was not far different from that of women without children (74%).
