WIESBADEN – To protect their privacy and personal identity on the internet, 87% of the roughly 65 million internet users aged 10 years or over use a user name and password when logging into services such as online banking or online shopping. Based on results of the 2018 survey of the use of information and communication technologies in households, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this form of login is the most frequently used electronic authentication method.
