WIESBADEN – In 2018, 274,000 young people started participating in a qualifying programme of the transition sector. These qualifying programmes enable participants to acquire basic vocational knowledge or to obtain a secondary general or intermediate school certificate in order to improve their chances of getting an apprenticeship. Based on provisional results from integrated reporting on education and training, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of new participants in transition sector programmes decreased by 3.3% on the previous year.
