BERLIN/WIESBADEN – The Statistical Advisory Committee, advisory body of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), elected Professor Dr. Thomas K. Bauer, Vice-President of the RWI - Leibniz Institute for Economic Research in Essen, as its chairman for the second time. Thomas Herkner from the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) was elected vice-chair. Solveigh Jäger of the Federation of German Industries (BDI) withdrew after two years as vice-chairperson. The Statistical Advisory Committee is tasked to advise the Federal Statistical Office on statistical matters and represent the interests of the users of federal statistics.
