WIESBADEN – The turnover in selected service branches (see below) increased by a calendar and seasonally adjusted 3.5% in the first quarter of 2019 compared with the first quarter of 2018. Based on first calculations, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was the highest figure in any first quarter since coverage began in 2003. Compared with the previous quarter, adjusted turnover remained roughly constant. The seasonally adjusted number of persons employed in selected service branches rose 1.8% on the first quarter of 2018, reaching a record high, too. It was up 0.4% on the fourth quarter of 2018.
