WIESBADEN – As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the quantity of cigarettes on which tax was paid in Germany decreased by 6.6% in the second quarter of 2019 compared with the same quarter a year earlier. The total value of tobacco products in terms of retail prices on which tax was paid in Germany in the second quarter of 2019 amounted to 7.0 billion euros. That was a decrease of 0.2 billion euros or 3.4% from the corresponding period of the preceding year.
