WIESBADEN – This year’s asparagus and strawberry yields are expected to be below previous year’s quantities. According to a provisional estimate of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the outdoor strawberry harvest is expected to yield approximately 108,700 tonnes in all of Germany, which would be just over 8% less than in 2018. The relevant area under cultivation declined by 9% to 11,400 hectares.
