WIESBADEN – In the first six months of 2019, 29.4 million pigs, cattle, sheep, goats and horses were slaughtered in commercial slaughterhouses in Germany. The slaughterhouses produced 3.9 million tonnes of meat including poultry. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that meat production decreased by roughly 2.6%, or 102,700 tonnes, on the first half of 2018.
