WIESBADEN – In the whole of Germany, 36,400 professional qualifications acquired in a foreign country were recognised in 2018 as fully or partially equivalent to the relevant qualifications obtained in Germany. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the number of recognitions was up by 20% from the previous year (30,200). The health sector benefited most from the marked increase. The recognition of qualifications obtained by nurses and physicians (+3,700) accounted for three fifths of the increase. Across all professions, Syria was the country where most of the recognised qualifications has been obtained.
