WIESBADEN – In the first half of 2019, the number of passengers departing from the 24 major German airports climbed by 4.1% to 58.9 million compared with the first six months of 2018. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the volume of transported air freight (including airmail) declined by 3.3% to 2.3 million tonnes. Since November 2018 the volume of air freight has thus decreased continuously year on year.
