Press release No. 401 of 14 October 2019
WIESBADEN - The downward trend of goods trade with the United Kingdom observed since the Brexit referendum is persisting. As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the United Kingdom ranked seventh among Germany's most important trading partners in the period from January to July 2019, with a foreign trade turnover (exports and imports) of 68.5 billion euros. This means that the United Kingdom has again fallen one place in the ranking of major trading partners compared with 2018. In 2015, the year before the Brexit referendum, the United Kingdom had come fifth.
