WIESBADEN – In 2018, roughly 15.3 million people in Germany, or 18.7% of the country's population, were at risk of poverty or social exclusion, according to the EU definition. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that, based on results of the EU-SILC (LEBEN IN EUROPA) household survey, the relevant number of people amounted to 15.5 million, or 19.0%, in 2017.
