Press release No. N 007 of 23 October 2019
WIESBADEN – The purchase prices paid on average for agricultural land have increased sharply in the last few years in Germany and in most Länder. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that the average prices paid for agricultural land (not including inventory and buildings) have risen in the last few years; their level in 2018 was 2.3 times as high as in 2009. In political debate, one of the reasons given for the sharp purchase price increases observed is land purchases made by non-agricultural investors.
