WIESBADEN – .The index of import prices decreased by 3.5% in October 2019 compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year. This has been the highest price decrease compared to the previous year since July 2016 (-4.1%). As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), in September 2019 and in August 2019 the annual rates of change had been -2.5% and -2.7%, respectively. From September 2019 to October 2019 the index slightly fell by 0.1%

The index of import prices, excluding crude oil and mineral oil products, decreased in October 2019 by 2.3% compared to October 2018 and in comparison with September 2019 it fell by 0.1%.

The index of export prices fell by 0.2% in October 2019 compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year. In September 2019 the index had not changed compared to September 2018, in August 2019 the annual rate of change had been -0.1%. From September 2019 to October 2019 the index remained unchanged..
