Press release No. 459 of 5 December 2019
WIESBADEN – Enterprises in Germany face growing problems in filling IT vacancies with suitable experts. In 2018, one in ten enterprises with 10 or more persons employed (10%) hired, or tried to hire, IT experts. More than two thirds of those enterprises (69%) reported difficulties. For example, there were not enough candidates or candidates were not sufficiently qualified, had not sufficient job experience or had too high salary expectations.
The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that the proportion of enterprises searching IT experts was roughly at the level of the previous years. However, recruitment problems increased. In 2017, 64% of the enterprises searching experts had problems in filling vacancies, while in 2014 the proportion had been just 46%.
