WIESBADEN – German local courts reported 14,381 business insolvencies from January to September 2019. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that this was a 2.3% decline compared with the same period a year earlier. The number of consumer insolvencies amounted to 48,764 between January and September 2019, with the number of cases being down 4.8% from the first nine months of 2018. Including insolvencies of other private debtors and deceased persons' estates, total insolvency cases amounted to 80,249, which was a 3.5% decline compared with January to September 2018.
