WIESBADEN – The inflation rate in Germany as measured by the consumer price index is expected to be 1.5% in December 2019. Compared with November 2019, consumer prices are expected to increase by 0.5%. Based on the results available so far, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that, on an annual average, the inflation rate is expected to stand at 1.4% in 2019.

In December 2019, the harmonised index of consumer prices for Germany, which is calculated for European purposes, is expected to increase by 1.5% year on year and 0.6% on November 2019. On an annual average, the harmonised index of consumer prices is expected to be up 1.4% in 2019 compared with a year earlier.
The final results for December 2019 will be released on 16 January 2020.
