Press release No. 055 of 21 February 2020
WIESBADEN - In 2018, 853,100 tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment were accepted by collection and recycling centres and other facilities for primary treatment in Germany. 85.6% of that equipment (729,900 tonnes) were recycled or prepared for re-use. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that this was an increase of 1.7%, or 12,000 tonnes, compared with a year earlier. However, the recycling rate - the equipment recycled or prepared for re-use as a proportion of all equipment accepted - remained nearly unchanged (2017: 85.8%).
