WIESBADEN – In the fourth quarter of 2019, a total of 141 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity were produced and fed into the grid in Germany. According to provisional results of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), this was a 4.6% decline on the fourth quarter of 2018. On the whole, the trends observed in the first three quarters continued. The amount of electricity generated in coal-fired power plants and fed into the grid decreased again in the fourth quarter. Compared with the same quarter of 2018, it declined by 23.2% to 41.7 billion kilowatt-hours. The feed-in of electricity generated by wind power and photovoltaics instead increased by 5.9% to 41.5 billion kilowatt-hours.
