WIESBADEN –In 2019, passengers used bus or rail transport more than 11.6 billion times in regular short-distance and long-distance transport in Germany. That was an average of nearly 32 million trips per day. Based on provisional results, the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) also reports that passenger transport by bus and rail rose by 0.4% compared with the previous year. This means that total passenger transport has risen continuously since 2004, the first year for which comparable data are available.
