WIESBADEN – Employers in the German industry and the support services sector paid an average 35.90 euros per hour worked in 2019. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that Germany ranked seventh within the European Union (EU 27 without the United Kingdom) in terms of labour cost level, in 2018 it had ranked sixth. This means that one hour worked in Germany cost slightly less in relative terms. Denmark had the highest labour costs per hour worked (46.30 euros), Bulgaria the lowest (6.00 euros).
